Nita dove into the water her pure white wings tucked in tight beside her. She loved swimming especially since she was able to stay under water for up to an hour before she needed air. It was amazing she never got over how amazing it was under the water. Feeling and hearing all the fish and life under the water. Someday Nita wanted to go to the ocean and explore the coral life and sea life there. It would be amazing.
A month had come and gone since Nita had moved to this area that seamed to be devoid of human life. Which was perfect for her. All that was here where normal animals. Life couldn't get any better than this. No humans, no fear of being captured. She was as free as a bird. Now if only she could see again. Oh how she missed seeing all the amazing colors. At least she still had her hearing. She smiled under the water. She could here the noises the fish made and swam up to one and grabbed it. She than swam up and out of the lake. There was a fire going a few feet from the lake. She killed the fish quickly than felt around for the stick she had cleaned up and stabbed it through the fish and stabbed the other end of the stick in the ground so that the fish was hovering over the fire so it cooked.

Sookie , or Scylla, as she was usually known crept through the woods, in her wolf form. The gray of her coat stood out from the green leaves and brown trunks of trees. She ran at her maximum speed enjoying the feel of the wind against her fur and face. Having not realized she was so close to the river, she had not given herself enough time to stop. Skidding into the river, she flustered and arose to the surface as herself, the human again. She choked slightly on the river water, but managed to clear her airways quickly. She ran her tongue over her fangs. Swimming to the side of the river, she pulled herself out. She shock out her wet hair, like a dog - or wolf - would.
Ringing out her blond curls, she tried to regain some semblance of control over her hair, which she was sure would frizz. She was glad that William had taken Belle out today. It meant she had time to just relax for once. She looked up to see a girl... with wings cooking a fish, Scylla smiled to herself, another hybrid. "Hello" she said sweetly, her southern American accent was extremely strong still. She quickly morphed her skin into scales, for the water rang off them quicker if she had scales. When she was confident she was quite dry, she let the skins slide away, back into her skin. Scylla fiddled with one of the ringlets, wrapping it around her finger.

{Just for future notice it's a lake not a river } Nita could smell the fish. It smelled so good but she was pretty sure it wasn't done yet it hadn't bean long enough. It took about thirty minutes to cook a fish. As she turned the fish so the other side would cook she heard footsteps running really fast in the distance. No wait they where paw steps of some kind of big dog. She folded her wings in. By the sound of the paw steps the big dog would pass with in inches of her. But she was wrong the dog had gone a little wider than she thought. She could hear a large splash as it fell in the lake. Standing up Nita walked over to the lagoon and was going to help it. but what burst out of the water wasn't an animal it was a human. A hybrid possibly or an unknown. She snapped her wings open and flew several feet in the air and hovered. She strained to hear anything. And what she heard caught her off guard. *Hello?* did she hear that correctly? Nita stayed up not sure about her. She looked down at where she could hear the girl breathing and seemed to look right into her eyes even though she couldn't see. "Who are you what are you doing here?"{ Green is not talking out loud she was thinking to herself. Pink is her talking out loud.}

Scylla took a deep breath, she had been running pretty fast. She smiled again, feeling a little sheepish. Scylla watched as she flew up and hovered, she tilted her face up so that she could see the girl, she had truly amazing wings, they were so pretty. "I'm Scylla" she said, telling her, only her code name, for not many hybrids trusted others with their true name. "What's your name?" she asked politely. For some reason, Scylla was nothing but kind, even after having been taken away and tortured. "I was going for a run, to relax, I don't get to often" she said, turning her head slightly to the side. Scylla rubbed the back of her neck, if she was truly honest the scale thing made her feel strange. Like she was covered in dirt. She tended to - if she could - have a shower afterwords. She was a whole lot more comfortable in her own skin, or as a wolf. "I'm sorry, I interrupted you" she said with an sheepish smile. She knelt by the lake, and dropped her hand into the water, swirling it around, watching the water ripple. Scylla pulled the hairband off her wrist, and tied her hair up into a quick ponytail, if it went frizzy it would be useless to do anything with it till she washed it. (Oops )

{That's ok } Nita dropped a foot. She could smell her fish beginning to burn a little. She dived down to wear she could here the fire snapping and grabbed the stick than flew back up ten feet. She bit hungrily into it. Between bites she spoke. "If you free how come you don't get out long? I can't stand living in a house it's to small. I prefer the wide open doors." Slowly Nita dropped to the ground and landed with a soft thump. She folded in her wings and looked over at the woman. "Scylla, huh kind of sounds snakelike. I'm Nita," she didn't know if she trusted her. She took another bite of the fish. It didn't taste the greatest but it was food. "So do you live on this island or.....what?" Walking back to the fire she found her bag and took something small and round out of it and stuck it in her pocket. She than grabbed a few other things. They would come in handy if the hybrid proved to be dangerous.

A splash caught Stern's attention. She looked down from where she was coasting in her peregrine falcon morph, immediately spotting the source of the noise. A girl was rising out of the lake far down below, streaming water. As Stern watched, the girl's skin changed to scales, then quickly returned to the normal form. That girl must be an experiment, just like Stern. The girl that she had been observing for a few minutes now walked over to where the girl was, and Stern decided to go take a closer look. She swooped down on silent wings, arriving just in time to hear the two exchanging names. she landed on aw branch a little distance away, but her sensitive hearing still picked up every word they uttered. She thought about it, but she decided not to reveal herself yet, because there was no reason to. She was not very trusting when it came to new people, and sometimes she didn't reveal herself. She wondered how Honesty was doing, she had left the tiger cub at their small house a few miles away from the lake.

Scylla, watched as the girl ate, if needed Scylla could just eat in her wolf morph, it wasn't truly disgusting like she thought it would be. She pursed her lips for a minute. Thinking before answering. "I have a family, my husband and I feel that our daughter needs to have a semblance of a normal life. It is... very hard to get used to, staying willingly in a small area, but its manageable." she said in a thoughtful tone. "I do wish we could afford a larger home" she said softly. It would be useless anyway. They moved around a lot.
Scylla grinned in a very amused fashion. "Yes, It does sounds quite snake-like, I chose it because, it is the name of the Greek, Wolf-Snake-Human hybrid. It seemed quite fitting" she said still grinning. "Nita, thats nice", she paused at the question. "For the moment yes, we move around quite a bit. Scylla played around for a moment, testing how well she could control her snake skin, she had it run up her arm, and over her finger tips, then pulled it back. She looked at Nita, and ran her hand through her hair. "Sugar" she exclaimed, suddenly realizing that her phone was in her pocket, and she had fallen into the lake. She quickly pulled it out, and tried to turn it on. When the annoying beep sounded, she knew it was fine. She could not figure out how to get rid of that sound.

Lyric was hovering in the air with a small rabbit when it saw a wolf running through the forest towards her and Nita's camp. He landed in a branch and blended in with the shadows. Which was easy to do since he had a black pelt. He watched everything. He was about to go to Nita when something caught his eye. Looking up he saw a large falcon drop down on a branch not to far from where she was standing. She bared her teeth and leaped at the falcon flying straight through the air and landing next to it. Almost on top of it. She growled and bit at it aiming her bite at it's wings.
Nita turned around from the fire and looked at the hybrid. "A family? Are they hybrids to? Or are they normal?" She walked to the lake and looked out at the water. Though she could see nothing she pretended she could. The sound of the water against the shore let her know where the water was. "Why not build one this is a human free island. No one but a few hybrids even know about this place. It is one of the biggest secrets kept by hybrids. It's are only safe haven. And you brought humans with you."

Stern alighted softly on the branch that she had been aiming for and watched the proceedings with a mild curiosity in her beady black eyes. Out of nowhere, a big lump of fur landed really close to her, almost on her back. Before she could pull her wings in, a sharp pain seared through one of them. The creature next to her had bitten her wing! With a loud cry of indignation, Stern flew off of the branch, shaking off her attacker. Flapping a bit away, she turned and looked back down at a... dog?! Yes, it was a dog, albeit on with wings.
Stern let loose a string of mild curses and insults, "You pestering little... Just wait until I have my claws back, you little insect. I'll dice you up like a piece of cheese!" All that was intelligible to humans was a loud string of chirping and other sounds, but they wouldn't understand her words. The dog, though, would most likely understand every word. Stern flapped to another tree and sat down again, now keeping one eye on the dog and the other on the two people. Oh, why didn't I bring Honesty along?

Lyric growled and tried to keep it from flying off. But it was no luck. When it flew in the air and shook her off she hovered for a bit. She was getting angrier and angrier as she heard the stupid birds insults. She bared her teeth and began flying at high speeds toward the falcon that had now landed on another tree. Lyric flew up high into the sun hoping to blind it than dived straight down at it and increasingly high speeds.
Nita looked up from where she had bean telling the wolf snake hybrid thing off to see Lyric chase a falcon. She smiled lyric loved chasing bird's. But what she hadn't expected was for the falcon to know such a large vocabulary of curse words. She laughed and shook her head. She knew Lyric would be fine. She had killed her fare share of falcons and other birds since they have bean here.

"My husband is a hybrid. Yes. Our child... Yes, we believe she is a hybrid of some sorts." she explained. "I would never fit in with a normal family. Every human is too scared when they see I have fangs..." she said with a slightly annoyed sounding laugh. Scylla heard all the confusion, and turned around to see what it was. She was a little miffed when she saw a dog with wings biting a falcon, but she wasn't normal so why shouldn't there be other things like animals that weren't normal either.
"We would if we had the money" she said with a shrug. Luckily, William had permanent features that he could hide. Scylla looked a little outraged. "Oh no. no. no. I would never bring a human here, I haven't seen my family in years. The only friends I have are other hybrids. I have no need to talk to them - well if I did they'd run off anyway, well most would, our child is not normal either, even if she was, how much would she be able to say - well, we'd have to give her up, probably to my old family" she said musing to herself towards the end, sounding slightly sad at her statement about Belle.

Stern growled as the dog followed her, but instead of following it with her eyes, she used her sensitive hearing to track it and kept her eyes on the trees. If only there were some way she could hide until she had morphed back into her normal self. Then the dog would be in greater damage. Stern remembered a small cavern she had spotted once, and just as the dog started diving towards her, she sprinted away, weaving in and out of the trees.
After a few minutes, she was sure that the dog was far behind her. She landed on the ground, under the cover of some ferns, and started morphing back to her human self. After a few seconds, she was her normal self again, standing at her full height. She walked back to where the two girls were talking, She strode confidently into the open, portraying a calm that she didn't completely feel.
"Hello there, Scylla, Nita. Nice to see I'm not the only hybrid out here." Her striped wings were partially open, but they weren't extended to their full span. She noticed that Nita also had wings, pure white ones, swan-like.

Lyric flew through the trees after the hawk. But she soon lost site of it and headed back to where she had dropped the rabbit. When she was flying back to Nita with the rabbit she spotted yet another girl. She could see falcon like wings and wondered if the falcon and the girl where one and the same. She shrugged and flew down to Nita and dropped the rabbit and barked. *Here's the rabbit you asked me to get for the stew for our dinner tonight."
Nita frowned and nodded, "I know what you mean. I didn't fit in with anyone so I came here to be alone. You don't have to send your child away if she is normal. She is your child and it's not like she'll ever get off this island. She'll grow up around hybrids. She would learn to keep it a secret." Shaking her head she laughed. "You don't need money here Just cut up some logs. I have an ax if you want to use it. You can make a log cabin. I plan on making one right here beside the lake."
Nita could hear the crunch of footsteps coming towards them long before the person spoke up. When the girl spoke up she turned around and pretended to look right at the girl. She probably didn't have the exact spot her eyes where. But what could you expect she was blind. "So you have wings woop dee doo. "This is mutant island you know." Hearing wings flying towards her she smiled. She recognized those wing beats. When Lyric landed beside her and barked. She knew the other hybrids couldn't understand her black lab pup which was all the best. "Good job Lyric. Did you catch that falcon you where after. I sure hope so I could hear a falcon hunting some of the smaller birds this morning. We want those song birds around." Turning back to her guest she frowned. "If you haven't figured it out already I'm blind. Lyric here is my eyes."

Sookie smiled at the hybrid. "Hello..." She trailed off, realising she didn't know her name. She ran one of her hands through her dark blonde hair. She turned to Nita. "If we could stay somehwere without having to move over and over again we'd sure be glad" she grinned. Scylla looked a little sheepish when Nita laughed at her. "Oh. I think my husband could do that, he likes DIY, so it would be a good project for him" she smiled gently. "I guess living around humans for so long, I've begun to think everything revolves around money - and my family of course" she shrugged, most humans only ever worried about money. It was a worry she had begun to pick up on, from her limited experience. Her husband was the one whom handled the humans mostly, he could blend in easier than her.

Stern shrugged, "Not only wings, but you obviously don't really care. And I realized that it was mutant island, your dog has wings and was chasing a poor bird through the trees." She didn't think now was the time to mention the two other traits she had, the swan girl already seemed not to approve of her. Anyway, who cared what she thought. "And the falcon wasn't hunting other bird, that was a hawk. The falcon just got here a few days ago." She knew that for a fact, she was certain of it. Of course, the others wouldn't know how in the world she did know that, but, of course, she had been the falcon. As the other girl greeted her, Stern grinned, "Ah, yes. I know your names, but I have yet to return the favor. You may call me Wolke, it is as good a name as any to me." She didn't want to give out her real, or chosen, name yet. And Wolke was good, it meant Cloud and was another thing in the sky.
